50 UGC Product Ideas You Already Own (2026 Checklist)
This is a free, updated checklist of 50 everyday products you can film for a UGC portfolio even if no brand has sent you a box. Each row has what to shoot, the shots to get, and a first line you can say in the opening three seconds. You can film in your bathroom, kitchen, or at your desk with things you already have.
Last updated: August 2026. We keep this list current. Film 8 to 12 of these and you have enough samples to start pitching.

What to Film First
Start with eight products most people already have: cleanser, moisturizer, SPF, wireless earbuds, a coffee mug, a tote bag, protein powder or vitamins, and shampoo. That mix hits the categories brands buy most. Keep each video 15-30 seconds, vertical (9:16), on your phone, with the product readable on screen.
- PR is not required. Sample videos of products you bought yourself are how a lot of UGC creators land their first paid brief.
- Follower count does not matter here. Brands are buying the clip. See the difference in our UGC vs influencer marketing guide.
- A window is enough. A cheap tripod helps more than a fancy camera.
How to use this UGC checklist
Work through one category at a time so you do not stall:
- Walk around your place and tick every product below that you already own.
- Pick two from each category so the folder is not only skincare.
- Follow the What to film column. That is what most brand briefs ask for.
- Use the hook or write your own first line. Brands decide in the first three seconds whether to keep watching.
- Export 9:16 with captions. Skip music you do not have rights to, or use the app's commercial library.
- Upload 8 to 12 clips to Google Drive and your newcollab profile.

How to Film a UGC Sample Video
Use the same setup for every product. After a few takes, each clip takes about 10 minutes.
1. Setup
- Face a window. Turn off overhead lights if they mix with daylight.
- Put the phone on a tripod, or lean it on a mug at eye level. Avoid shooting the whole thing handheld.
- Wipe the product and the surface so the label is readable.
- Record in 9:16. Tap the screen to lock exposure.
2. Shoot four short clips
- Hook (3 seconds): talking to camera, start with the problem.
- Product insert (2-4 seconds): label, texture, unbox, or pour.
- Use (8-15 seconds): apply, wear, eat, or press play.
- Close (3-5 seconds): a simple wrap like "this is staying in my kit."
3. Edit
- Cut the dead air. Add captions. Skip a long intro.
- Keep it 15-30 seconds. Brands trim longer files anyway.
- Leave the watermark off. Brands cannot run ads with your handle burned in.
- Export 1080x1920 and name the file something clear, like
cleanser-ugc.mp4.
What Brands Look For in a UGC Portfolio
Before you pitch, check these:
- Readable product: logo or label in frame for at least one second.
- Your voice on the track: skip trending sounds you cannot license.
- One idea per video: "this serum under makeup" works better than a full routine.
- More than one category: beauty plus home, tech, or food books more briefs.
- It sounds like you: if it reads like a script, film it again.
